Robin Kanaan

Robin Kanaan was among the first Ohio educators to receive certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. She gained statewide and national recognition as a Critical Friends Group trainer for the National School Reform Faculty. On the national scene, Robin was key force behind the emergence of the Ohio Center for Essential School Reform as a leader in standards-based instruction and assessment. Her staff development experiences with Battelle for Kids expanded her knowledge of curriculum and instruction design and provided insights into value-added assessments. Robin’s 23 years of experience as a classroom teacher spanned elementary, middle and high school in both urban and suburban districts. She provided guidance for schools in three of the most challenged urban districts in the Ohio High School Transformation Initiative since 2003. She one of the lead designers for the EDWorks STEMLab, New Start and prototype models, heading all professional development efforts for the EDWorks coaches and supports coaching teams across the country. In addition, Kanaan is leading the design and launch of two innovative STEMLab high schools in Ohio and Washington State.
