Olivia Watkins, PhD
Olivia L. Watkins, PhD, is an educational consultant who specializes in teacher and administrator professional development. She has been involved with school based coaching, professional learning communities and school improvement planning for a number of years through the Ohio High School Transformation Initiative, Youth Connection Charter Schools and EDWorks, a subsidiary of KnowledgeWorks. She was a faculty member in the Educational Leadership Department at National-Louis University where she taught graduate students enrolled in the Master’s and doctoral programs in preparation for principal or superintendent licensure.
Her career in public Education spans over 30 years. Dr. Watkins has taught in elementary and high schools. Her district administrative experience included being principal of a prek-8 school, Special Projects Officer for Small School/Charter Schools, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in Gary, Indiana, and Assistant Superintendent for Professional Development in Chicago, Illinois.
Her previous responsibilities and educational background have helped her to develop an expertise which includes systemic change efforts, curriculum and instruction, design and evaluation of professional development and K–12 literacy.
