EDWorks’ Reynoldsburg eSTEM High School offers students real-world learning environment, motivation to succeed

On Friday, faculty, staff and district leadership welcomed more than a dozen visitors to the school who are interested in its early success. They included representatives from from KnowledgeWorks and its subsidiary, EDWorks -- which worked with the district to design the curriculum and provide technical assistance.

Reynoldsburg eSTEM is one of Ohio’s 10 platform STEM high schools and is an active member of the Ohio STEM Learning Network. Academy leader Marcela Raymond is currently serving as OSLN’s principal-in-residence.

Eleven Ohio schools will implement KnowledgeWorks innovative high schools, one beginning in the 2011-12 academic year and the rest beginning in the 2012-2013 academic year, as part of Ohio’s Race to the Top Innovative Programs grant, the Ohio Department of Education announced today.

The State University of New York and Edworks today launched 11 Early College High School Partnerships across the state. The event was attended by community members and students of the Rochester Early College International High School.

KnowledgeWorks’ EdWorks subsidiary asked to transform Baltimore’s historic Frederick Douglass High School

EdWorks, a subsidiary of Cincinnati-based KnowledgeWorks that specializes in high school transformation, has been asked by the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners to help turn around historic Frederick Douglass Senior High School.

 Douglass, whose graduates include Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall and entertainer Cab Calloway, was founded in 1883 as the Colored High and Training School and is the second-oldest historically integrated public high school in the United States.

EdWorks to help develop Early College High Schools throughout New York State

EdWorks, a Cincinnati-based high school turnaround organization, will work with the State University of New York to develop 11 Early College High Schools throughout the state – from Buffalo to Yonkers -- over the next four years.

EdWorks, a subsidiary of KnowledgeWorks, has developed nine Early College High Schools in Ohio since 2003 after KnowledgeWorks partnered with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the state and others to invest $40 million to introduce the model.
